ABOUT US

The People is a bi-weekly newsletter investigating Big Tech and exploring how we can fight back against its harms. Powered by People vs Big Tech and the Citizens, each issue digs in to one topic we can tackle together.

We cut through noisy tech coverage and focus on what is unfair, unsafe, and undemocratic. From AI to algorithms, privacy to political ads, we bring you big ideas, things to watch out for, and actions to take.

Our network is made up of over one hundred tech justice organisations around the world. This means every issue of The People is compiled with the help of some of the planet’s smartest and most respected experts in this field.

About People vs Big Tech

The People vs Big Tech is a movement fighting for a better digital future. We are made up of over a hundred organisations working on digital rights and tech justice in Europe.

We call for a world in which no small group
of billionaires can tweak an algorithm and change the fate of billions without constraints or fear
of consequence. Visit our website to sign the People's Declaration.

About the Citizens

Founded in 2020 by Pulitzer-nominated journalist Carole Cadwalladr in the wake of the Cambridge Analytica/Facebook scandal, the Citizens is a media non-profit with a focus on democracy, data rights and disinformation.

We are journalists, experimenters, change-makers, and storytellers, fighting to hold political leaders, Big Tech executives, and disinformation superspreaders to account.

About our writers

The People is building a collective of experienced journalists who are passionate about tech justice, each bringing their own expertise and areas of interest to every issue. Our newsletter editor is award-winning social justice journalist Alice McCool.
